Some of the main ones I installed:įrancesco's Levelled Items/Creatures Mod: This is a big, detailed mod that changes the entire world so that level-scaling is toned down severely. I did some reading on the modding options available, downloaded gigs of 'em, then started playing. I installed the game, the expansion, and all of the little DLC stuff (it's all in the GOTY edition of the game). I promised myself that I'd revisit the game some time. There were mostly minor interface and graphics enhancements at first, but the potential was there for much more. There were other problems, but that was easily my biggest.Īround the time I stopped playing, the modding community was starting to gear up. The world felt like nothing more than a giant treadmill, and a wobbly, poorly-balanced one at that. ![]() The level scaling-intended to make the world feel dynamic-did the opposite. As the game progressed, though, the flaws that were little at the beginning started growing. I have to admit it kept me captivated for a good 20 hours, because the game's particular combination of awesome landscapes, a giant world, and massive quantities of content (some of it even good) was compelling. ![]() ![]() When I originally played Oblivion on release, I wasn't that impressed. ![]()
